Bbu fiber jumper to ODF melting tray

To connect a BBU fiber jumper to an ODF melting tray, route the jumper through the ODF, manage slack on the splice tray, and secure the fiber to maintain bend radius and prevent entanglement.

Step-by-

Step Procedure1.

Identify the Fiber Jumper and Connector Type

Determine the connector type of the BBU fiber jumper (commonly LC, SC, or FC) depending on the BBU port and ODF interface.

L

C connectors are often used for device-to-device connections, while SC or FC connectors are typical for ODF terminations. 2. Route the Fiber Jumper to the ODFRoute the fiber jumper through the designated cabling slot or channel in the ODF cabinet.

Ensure the fiber follows the outside or inside path of the ODF rack without crossing multiple trays or creating entanglements. Avoid sharp bends; maintain the minimum bend radius specified by the fiber manufacturer. 3.

Prepare the OD

F Melting (Splice) TrayPull out the splice tray from the ODF module. The tray is designed to house splices and excess fiber slack, typically accommodating 8–24 splices per tray depending on the model. Ensure the tray's protective holder is ready to secure the fiber.

4.

Manage Fiber Slack

Coil any excess fiber into a neat circle and place it on the splice tray. Use fiber bundling tape or Velcro straps to secure the loops without compressing the fiber. Avoid overlapping fibers from different jumpers to prevent damage and simplify future maintenance.

5.

Splice or Connect the Fiber

If the BBU jumper requires splicing, use the melting tray's splice holders to secure the fusion splice. For pre-terminated connectors, insert the connector into the corresponding adapter on the ODF module (SC, LC, or FC) and ensure it clicks or screws in place. 6.

Final Checks

Verify that all fibers are inside the ODF tray and not hanging outside. Confirm that the fiber routing is neat, with no crossing or entanglement, and that the bend radius is maintained throughout. Label the fiber jumper and tray position for easy identification during maintenance.

Best Practices

Use 1. 8mm patch cords for optimal cable management in high-density ODF frames. Keep emergency or extra-long jumpers coiled on the inner fiber plate without obstructing other fibers.

Protect fibers crossing cabinets with a casing to prevent mechanical stress.

Follow the OD

F manufacturer's modular guidelines for splice tray capacity and fiber routing. By following these steps, the BBU fiber jumper can be safely and efficiently connected to the ODF melting tray, ensuring signal integrity, organized routing, and ease of future maintenance.
